We carpooled to the "trail head," since parking space is limited. Not sure what to expect for conditions, we'd packed our Kahtoolas (boot grippers) but didn't need them until the saddle. Mud caked our boots as we switch-backed up through cottonwood forest. The view opened up just below Mile High Saddle and we could look east up Eagle River valley and see Iron Nipple to the left and Mt. Magnificent high above to the right. At the saddle, we turned left and continued up to Iron Nipple.
