Baldy is getting a much needed face lift! Switchbacks are being incorporated into the eroded steep front trail and old sections blocked off. We hiked up the back side trail, which isn't as steep and tops out on a ridge behind Baldy with views of Blacktail Rocks, Roundtop, Mt. Magnificent, and Hurdy Gurdy way back up Eagle River valley. We came down the front of Baldy, and I'm really pleased with the improvements that have been made. Lots easier on these middle-aged knees, and better erosion control for the hillside. Bring water for your dog--there's none at the top.
